American Pride

According to wiki, Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces. With that, I thought I would spotlight some products that befit the occasion and help in the memory keeping process.
Honor by Authentique - perfectly vintage

K&CO. has paper kits and albums for all branches of the military.
Paper House has kits for Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force

Tim Holtz has a beautiful patriotic stamp set...perfect for cards and mixed media projects!
Stars&Stripes by Simple Stories is my favorite line.
Americana by Pebbles - seems to be more pastel but just as patriotic.

Wishing you and yours a lovely and safe Memorial day weekend!

Share A Layout

Pinterest is my go-to when I'm stuck for ideas and it didn't fail  me this time around either. I used to tear out pages from magazines, now I pin and screen shot sketches/layouts that I want to use for inspiration. This time around I used this layout as a jumping off point...turning it sideways and taking some liberties with it for a layout of D and his digestive system project.

Friday randomness

Now that the crop season is slowing down, I've been going through old photos and finding treasures like these of my boys, from way back when, with my aunt. Which begs the question...how do you store your digital files?
Also spending lots of time at the ball field watching games, taking photos (the kids on the team even have requests) and hanging out with Diego.
And working on the yard...the weather yesterday was perfect for putting in azalea bushes and splitting hostas. Diego was around too...not the biggest helper though. He wanted to play fetch the entire time and thought the best thing in the world was to help dig out rocks. When he got too hot to run around, the best place to lay down and cool off was the area I was planting, freshly dug earth is nice and cool....like I said, not a big help :p
On the agenda today is reviewing contracts (2017 dates!!!), figuring out what to order for fall (lots of cool new stuff out) and weeding the front yard. What are you up to on this beautiful day?

Weekend wrap-up

We spent the weekend in Baltimore, MD...the main goal of the weekend was to get my husband graduated from Johns Hopkins with his Master's degree. It was quite the endeavor working full-time and going back to school but so worth it and we are so very proud of him. Before the ceremony on Monday, we spent the weekend exploring the Inner Harbor area as well as touring the Johns Hopkins campus and made time to take in a Baltimore Orioles game. The weather co-operated for us, we learned to uber and ate way too much. How was your weekend?

Share A project or two

I've been playing with heat transfer vinyl (HTV) and made these two projects in the last few weeks. The blanket is for D's hockey team manager...the most awesome hockey mom and best team manager ever! I put together the design and ironed the HTV directly onto a sweatshirt material blanket. Going to have to make a few more for myself ;)
The other project was a sweater gift for a friend's birthday. I found the sweater at Kohl's and the saying on pinterest. I looked up a lotus flower clipart, designed it on the silhouette software and ironed it on. Quick and easy gift. Bonus...she loves it!!!

Weekend Wrap-up

Happy International Scrapbooking Day! Happy Mother's Day! It sure was an eventful weekend. We had some downtime on Saturday so I spent it in my scrap cave...making a card (yup just one), organizing albums and then *gasp* actually creating layouts for my boys' album. Did you get any crafting in this past weekend?
Good thing the rain stopped later in the day as I headed out to take prom pictures for a friend's son and his date. They were absolutely adorable and he was such a good sport. After, we went out for an early Mother's day dinner and this boy bought me ice cream for Mother's Day..."You've been wanting to go to...and we're here, so I'm going to buy you ice cream!" :)
We didn't have anything planned for Sunday since the boys had baseball games but they got canceled so Jorge and I went out to buy plants for the vegetable garden and new flower bed. We got the veggies in and will work on the other stuff throughout the week. It was a great weekend and I hope you had an great one too!

Fave Finds: Mother's Day edition

Maybe I should re-name this Fave Finds post to a "I Want" post...want to make, want to do, want to get, want to go...or maybe we'll just call this my Mother's Day wish list. Some of these are for my backyard...we put up a fence for Diego last year and my goal is to get it spruced up this spring/summer.

I think a cute rustic DIY "welcome" sign would be a great addition to the backyard.
A bench to park ourselves on...this one would go in the front to hang out on.
Baseball season begins Monday and I'm pretty sure I NEED this chair...can't find it though :(
A fun card to card-lift and there's even a sketch to go with it. Do share yours if you make one!
A quote that I have printed and a permanent fixture on my inspiration board for when my crazy child drives me up the wall!
After using the cuttlebug to die-cut about a thousand crazy birds and parts, this brand new Vagabond 2 is on my wishlist...in fact, it's sitting in my cart...yes?
Another baseball mom want...a baseball wreath...this would be cool on the front door.
The National Cryptologic Museum...it's on my list for our trip to Baltimore
Lastly, a girl can dream and this adventure is definitely on my dream list...12 things you should probably know before going to New Zealand!

Share a layout or two

It's about time I shared some layouts on here, right? Here are two layouts I put together that I think the ink splotches are what makes the layout. It seems to be trending right now...splashes of ink or mist on layouts. On this first layout, assembled it and realized that a bigger circle would've worked better. Scrounging around, I was at a crop, I saw a friend's (hi Jen!) stamp set and borrowed them. It totally helped, don't you think?

This second layout, was a sketch I followed and since it had splotches on the sketch, I followed it. I love how the layout came together. It was so much easier using stamps (Stampin Up's Gorgeous Grunge) and ink instead of mists. Have you tried this technique? Did you like it?

Weekend Wrap-up

It was so such a treat to spend the weekend at Point Sebago resort with a great group of scrappers. The ladies were awesome and the weather was perfect. Thank you ladies for a wonderful weekend! I am so glad I managed to get up there on Thursday for an early start as I had to pack up Saturday evening. Here is an outside and inside view.
My Distressed Crazy Birds was a hit! Check out this great group of ladies inking away.
Sunday was a quiet day spent with my boys...we broke out the dominoes and had a fun game. Funny story...D and I were all about matching dominoes while J had learned the fine skills of counting tiles (there are six of each number) and at the end killed us with his skills. Next time we play, I'll have to try my hand at that skill unless of course it's in those Puerto Rican genes!
