Vacation mode

Baseball is almost over and it's almost time for a vacation trip. With that in mind, I am highlighting some of the newer lines currently available. Kaisercraft consistently produces lines that hit it out of the ballpark for me. I am fascinated by this classic vintage line called Just Landed.
Carta Bella also has a vintage-y line but is a little too busy for me.
Reminisce has several lines that perfect for those Florida trips. Their Wizard 101 is perfect for Harry Potter World and their Worlds of Adventure, just right for Universal Studios. There are a few more but they didn't interest me as much.

Echo Park has Magical Adventure...the newest Disney but not Disney line out. I have them stocked and am planning on making a multi-page layout kit with it. Queen & Co. has a line out as well as Simple Stories' Say Cheese lines.
If you're a Project Lifer - I love Becky Higgins' Explore Edition. Perfect for your summer adventures.
Bella Blvd. has a beautiful and colorful collection, Let's Go.
Last but not least, Paper House has 3 travel lines. Specifically geared toward Italy, France and England. If your travels led to Europe, these are a must have!

Share a Layout or Two

This time we have same photos, same papers, same title design and slightly different stickers. Papers are an older line from Creative Imaginations that I've been saving for their Lego creations as well as the stickers. I made the title...double matting them...on the silhouette. Can you tell I'm completely enamored by my Cameo?

Share A Layout or Two

Project Life is revolutionizing the scrapbook industry and as much as I want to convert to it, I still love the 12x12 pages. However it doesn't mean I can't use it as a basic template for my layouts. At our last crop, I challenged the girls to make a layout following a project life template and came up with this for myself. The layout came together quickly and easily.
Next, I gave them a sketch using the same concept but without the actual page protectors. The girls agreed it made for faster scrapping but then sketches always do. This is the sketch we used, designed by Scrapbook Generations, and below it is my interpretation of the sketch.

Similar layouts again...one for each boy...same layout different photos. The hearts were cut using a free cut file from Scrapbook & Cards Today and I designed the title myself on the Silhouette Cameo.

Weekend Wrap-up

It was a gray and damp weekend but we made the most of it. We spent Saturday morning at the ball field for a double header and then came home to continue working on the shed. This time it was just Jorge and I out in the drizzle working on the interior stuff and getting the door in. We got the door in and then realized we needed the hammer and instructions so I went in through the window...good thing I fit...and Diego was super upset I was in there without him. He actually tried jumping in through the window!!!
Sunday's double header was canceled so we packed the teens up and drove into Boston. We introduced our niece to Dim Sum in Chinatown, a little big city shopping and then walked down to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market before heading home for a 5pm baseball practice, all stars baseball starts up next weekend therefore the daily practices.

Share a Layout or Two

As I've mentioned before I make the same layout for each of my boys since they have their own albums. I may change up the photos a little but mostly keep the layouts the same. For these layouts, it looks like I printed the photos at different times, one layout has 4x6's and the other 3x4's. I just switched things around a little and kept the same title and papers.

Paper is from an older DCWV paper pad. I traced the ringmaster, typed the title out and welded everything together using my Silhouette Cameo for the title.

Weekend Wrap-up

We started our long weekend by taking down our old shed on Friday. It was falling apart and leaking...plus a tree had fallen on it way back in the ice storm flattening the roof.
Saturday we got up early and started working on building the new shed. We bought a kit from Lowe's and it took the entire morning to get the base leveled. Inspector Diego can be seen checking things out and making sure there was no slacking.
By the end of the day, we had a floor, 4 walls and a roof. The roof was tricky as both Jorge and I are short but armed with a step stool, a ladder and the tall boys, we go it up there and somewhat flush and squared. We'll have to move things around before we put the shingles down but we got the bulk of the work done. Woo Hoo!!!
We got another early start on Sunday for our drive to Rochester, NY for the annual La Familia Softball game. I love that everyone is encouraged to play and there is some serious smack talking going on. The best was watching the 3 year old running around the bases after a "home run" and him throwing down his glove every time the ball didn't go his way LOL!
Can't leave out the fabulous fireworks show by the canal on the 4th before heading home today. We brought a cousin back with us and are officially a party of 5 with a little more estrogen in the house for the next 2 weeks! Don't worry if you don't hear from me...I'll be busy entertaining 3 teenagers :)

I found this cool stamp at Michaels' dollar spot and couldn't resist bringing it home. Once I got it home, I decided that I just had to play with it. This card is the result. I randomly stamped a background and then colored in and fussy cut out one of the mandalas. I popped it off the background, added a saying, matted the whole thing and have a pretty nifty card to mail out :)

Weekend Wrap-up

I spent Friday scrapping at the new Ready Set Crop Studio in Fitchburg, MA. The space was awesome...especially loved the super comfy chairs. Check them out on facebook, they have classes, paint nights and commuter crops.
Saturday was spent at the ball field and this time we brought Diego with us. This picture says it all...LOL!
Sunday, we did a little shopping and then spent the rest of the day at a cookout for Darin's hockey team. The kids had a great time playing street hockey and the parents had fun catching up. Beautiful weather and perfectly balanced activity-wise, what more can I ask for?

Beach time

This beautiful stretch of weather we've been having in New England has me wanting to head to the beach. Unfortunately, we have activities and plans that require us to stay inland. It hasn't stopped me from looking at and stockpiling the many new beach theme lines that are out. My absolute favorite is this You Are Here! line by Simple Stories. The colors call out to me and I can't seem to resist the cute little flamingo.
Reminisce has two lines...I have a hard time working with paper of scenery but don't they just pull you in? Both, Seaside and Shipwreck Club are in my stash!
Bo Bunny wasn't going to be left behind and have a beautiful vibrant beach them line called Beach Therapy.
Carta Bella has their Beach Day line and it looks just perfect for those summer days at the beach with the kiddos. Next week for sure and I'll have to make sure I take my camera and take those shots!
Kaisercraft also has two amazing beach themed lines. Sandy Toes is my second favorite...love the colors and vintage vibe. Coastal Escape is amazing too but already sold out.
Last but not least, mermaids are trending and there are three lines out. Echo Park has their Let's Be Mermaids line...cute and perfect for the little girl in your life.
Kaisercraft has Mermaid Tails and I think it's perfect for beach pictures, girls weekend at the beach or pool, or even Sea World and if you ever went, Weeki Wachee Springs in Florida.

My favorite mermaid line is Graphic 45's Voyage Beneath The Sea. The colors are just perfect and the designs just gorgeous. I don't know what I would use these papers for but I had to have one.
Lots of choices and if you're like me, just get 1 of everything ;)

I used some old Hot Off The Press pre-embossed papers (those of you who were at Cool Crops may remember Cara ironing these papers), inked the pieces with distressed ink, matted them, added a saying, a punched butterfly, a stamped flower (SU stamp and punch) plus some bling to make some quick and easy cards for Mother's Day.
Aren't they petty?

Weekend Wrap-up

Happy First Day of summer!!! I am hearing the sounds of two boys working on summer chores so they can get to the PS4...gotta love summer!
Started the weekend w an early bedtime on Friday and woke to a very irate kitty who did NOT want me to get out of bed.
We spent the morning getting some yard work done, prepping for some a new butterfly garden and then some cooking before heading a friends for a pig roast. We had a great time catching up w friends we see once a year at this annual roast as well as meeting some new friends. We promised each other that we would get together at least once more this summer so we can sit and catch up, there were too many people to really sit and catch up, know what I mean?
And no weekend would be complete without some baseball thrown in.  A double header in Providence RI for the big kid on Father's Day. We didn't quite pamper dad as we wanted to and his gift shipped late so I'm planning a re-do.  At one point I looked into the dugout and asked hubby who the kid in there was and it was our kid!!! How does this kid keep looking bigger and older?

Random Friday

Started a new workout routine with DH (it was all his idea, I was happy on the treadmill) and can barely type or walk for that matter. On the bright side, we survived week 1 and it can only get better, right? Diego tries to help with the downward dogs LOL
Darin finished up middle school this week, yes we're officially on summer break, and I now have a high school freshman and junior. Where does the time go? And of course I am behind on my scrapbooks...working on 2012 currently.
Since summer break started on Wednesday, we've had some excursions and some adventures. Darin had some snacks he wanted and apparently they could only be found at the No Name Market. You heard/read right. We did find it and he got his snacks. What else is this kid going to come up with?
Meanwhile, the other kid is keeping us busy with travel baseball. Love that he is enjoying the game and having a great time with his teammates. The laughter and joking around in the dugout and between games are what it's all about, right?
Are your kids out for the summer? Any plans? I have work to do but have some excursions planned as well as lessons for the boys. Lessons? Cooking, budgeting, changing a flat, sewing a button,etc...they will so love me by the end of the summer 😉😇

Make memories...the days are long but summer sure goes by fast!
