Weekend Wrap-up

I had the pleasure of spending the past weekend with the Scrap-A-Way Ladies in Mystic CT. The newly renovated hotel was beautiful but the best part was the company. I had a great time meeting new scrappers and getting reacquainted with scrappers I'd met at previous event.
Class is always a great time especially when the girls get excited about new ideas and cool tools. In this class, they learned to layer and glam up stickers.
It was pouring buckets when it was time to leave but we made the best of it. After all, it could have been worse i.e. 2 ft of snow or a hurricane. I made a pit stop at the Bleu Squid located in the Old Mystic Village for some cupcakes and a grilled cheese for the ride home. So yummy!
Ladies, Thanks for a wonderful weekend...see you soon!

Fave Finds: Winter Edition

1. Love the colors in this layout from BHG...it's also part of a slideshow of other great layouts perfect for scraplifting for winter sports layouts.

2. Nothing like a list of 50 Ways to Make the Most of Winter to help chase away the winter blues.

3. Need to make these DIY hand warmers ASAP. I know they sell hand warmers but it seems like such a waste to be throwing them away and I only use them for a total of 2 hours.

4. An infographic list of how to spice up your hot chocolate - I'm thinking I need to just go down the list and try them all!

5. It is 6F outside as I type up this post and we, me and my boys, will have to head outside when they get home from school to blow Frozen Bubbles!

6. Essentials for snowshoeing...this caught my eye as it's something I've been wanting to try for a while. Any of you snowshoe? Any tips for me?

7. I meal plan and Mondays are SOUPER MONDAY *insert eye roll from my teen boys* and I love this list of 29 Cozy & Delicious Soups to Make this Winter.

8. This card caught my eye and I just had to share. More details on the card can be found at Joyful Creations with Kim.

9. Melted Snowmen cookies...need I say more?

Random Friday

When one has EIGHT nephews between one's brother and two brother-in-law's, one has to add a little  humor in one's gift giving. Our newest nephew was born 12/8 and this was his welcome present. Couldn't help it when I saw it. That plus a hand knit blanket just for him.
Isn't he is just precious? We got to meet him on our annual trip to Florida for the holidays and he is such a little peanut.
And the second newest nephew...I just had to share. Don't you just want to squeeze this little guy? I would except he's too far away...so I send virtual kisses and pinches and squeezes, not quite the same though 😩😩😩

Weekend Wrap-up

I guess you could say we had a quiet weekend. One kid was off on a retreat and the other kid had a TON of homework, a practice and a bunch of games.  We got a big chunk of our shopping done, went out for dinner with the kiddo who didn't want his pic taken,

enjoyed the gorgeous weather and cooked a delicious Sunday dinner. I am really liking the two meal a day on Sunday. Late breakfast (after 9am mass so we can sleep in a little) and an early dinner so we can sit down to have meal before CCD (5:45...I know) and hockey games. How was your weekend?

Fave Finds: Handmade Gift Edition

I am pretty crafty and love to give handmade. Since I started knitting, I always have grand plans on knitted gifts and it doesn't really ever happen. Maybe I should start in January, hah, but I am going to attempt a few. Here are a few hopefully quick and do-able handmade gifts that I have on my list.
1. These DIY Notepads look easy enough with scrapbooking paper. A Beautiful Mess has a different  take on DIY Notepads.
2. Letter Photo Art have been on my handmade gift list for the longest time...I even have photos to spell out our last name but could never find the right frame. Love the idea of smaller frames attached to a bigger piece.
3. I've made one of these scarves, and it was quick and easy. Maybe I can handle one or two before the holidays.
4. Customized shirts are super easy gift if you have a Cricut or Silhouette and a stash of heat transfer vinyl.
5. I doubt I am fast enough to tackle this Knit 10 gifts in 10 days list but I'd sure like to try.
6. These Marbled Clay Ring Dishes would be a nice gift for the ladies.
7. Another knitting gift, this "The Big Hat" for my fellow crossing guard friend with the
reflective yarn.
8. Monogrammed mugs filled with hot chocolate is another quick and easy handmade idea. Not ready to hand draw, then cut out a monogram using vinyl on your die-cutting machine.
9. No time for handmade...how about making a memory instead? Here's a great list of memory-making ideas.

Share A Layout - find other layout

Another in my series of duplicate layouts. It definitely makes things easier when a paper pack has duplicates. I didn't have the same tags or buttons but no matter. It was even easier since I used the same photos for both layouts. Kiddo #3 belongs to a friend that came with us.

So Very Thankful

It's almost Thanksgiving and it's time for a Gratitude post. Combining posts means I get the rest of the week off from blogging, right?

I am Thankful for the great group of organizers I work with and for the wonderful customers/friends I meet at every single event. A special shout-out to the women I spent last weekend with at Cool Crops Hyannis. It was cold and blustery, yet every single one of them braved it for a group photo while I balanced on a chair.
I am Thankful for nice big vendor spaces and giant 8ft tables. It makes setting up so much easier...not sure if you can tell, it's always a little different at each event.
I am Thankful for my vendor family...the ones I hang out with on the weekends and rely on to split hotel bills. Also, to share breakfasts, lunches and dinners plus coffee runs. Couldn't do it without them. And especially for the ones that are willing partners in experiments with cool products...cough cough...White Mountain Laser. Dave had some time on his hands and he made beer mugs and bottles, I decided the foam needed a little something...Voila...puffy paint to the rescue ;)
I am Thankful for my customers new and returning (most are friends now) who put up with the crazy fire sales. Supporting me at events and participating in the online specials.
And most of all I am Thankful for my family...my boys that help load and unload the car, help kit papers, and my husband who holds down the fort while I'm away.
Last but not least, I am Thankful for having a reliable vehicle to get me from point A to point B on a daily basis not just the long rides to events. Yesterday we dropped it off at the dealer and brought home a new ride. So super excited...fingers crossed everything fits, eh?

Last but not least, Thankful for a roof over our heads, heat and running water, food in the cupboards and our health.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Share A Layout

Another week another layout share. A super quick and easy layout to document Jori's Eleventh birthday party. The journaling will get added eventually and I do think it needs more embellishing. Opinions? Suggestions?

Share A Layout

One of my favorite photos taken at the most fun still talked about Mom n Me crop hosted by Cool Crops at the Bayside. I actually broke out the sewing machine for this layout and stitched the circles together for a cool banner. Love the tickets and distressed wood background paper. Just a simple fun layout of the coolest kid on the block!

Weekend Wrap-up

How was your weekend? I chose to back out of attending Lexie's Retreat in Portland so I could watch this kid play in his final Flag Football Superbowl on Friday night. Sadly they lost but as the kid says, "At least I had a great play!"
It proved to be a light sports/activity weekend so this happened as well. 120 handmade/stamped cards. If you happen to be on the receiving list...don't judge. I have to admit, I am not very good at stamping...let's leave it as it's the thought and effort that counts, right?

There was also some time spent out here all decked out for a Christmas card photo shoot with a tripod. It was a long hike out to the perfect spot to find out that the batteries in my remote were dead. We used the timer function and then had to deal with a very fiesty uncooperative puppy...this picture tells the whole story...LMAO!
We then spent the afternoon at a car dealership...keep your fingers crossed for me...watched a very exciting Patriots game and finished the night with more card crafting.

Share A Layout

This is one of my favorite layouts done to date. My parents were visiting us and we took the opportunity to play tourist in Boston. I wanted to use washi tape and wood veneers in a layout...scraplifted a layout found on pinterest and done! Two pages - one for each boys' album. Can you tell which is for whom?

Weekend Wrap-up

I had the privilege of  spending the weekend at Cool Crops Warwick this past weekend. First of I have to thank the ladies for their support of me and my little traveling store. Classes were sold out and I even had some brave ladies sign up for a beautiful but very messy class. Everyone had fun and went home with the cutest finished product.

The girls even took a group photo with their finished products.

Saturday night was deemed Characters night - dress up as your favorite movie, book or real-life character. Everyone dressed up and there were some amazing characters. My favorite was when one or the scrappers dressed up as Barb...seriously the best, complete with glasses, purse and cane! Next up were Amelia Bedelia, Luigi, Jack Sparrow and Super Grandma. Me? Of course I dressed up...couldn't resist. I did a little search on pinterest and decided on Fern from Charlotte's Web.
On my finger was dear Charlotte...I had initially bought a plastic spider but when I saw this gem, I couldn't pass her up. Especially not when she was 90% off at Target!!!

On to Cool Crops Hyannis...roll call...who's going?

Around here

Playing with my new Silhouette Cameo machine especially with my vinyl stash. Next up is heat transfer vinyl for baby onesies.
Reading a wonderful book called The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston.
Listening to lots of loud and boisterous music while I work in the scrap cave.
Sorting beautiful Bazzill cardstock for the last Bazzill Bulk Buy.

Getting lost in the woods behind the high school while attempting to walk Diego on the cross country trail.
Enjoying this new sport, cross country, that Jori is trying this season.
Baking up a storm in the kitchen - apple cake, apple crisp, and chocolate chip cookies...my boys, their friends and our neighbors are happy!
Prepping and planning for upcoming events.
Making a list of hotels to call and inquire about crop space.
Making a tiny dent in my pile of to-do layout and class stash.
What have you been up to?

Weekend Wrap-up

Hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend. We had a quiet one with the boys reluctant to dress up, me down with a chest cold plus the bonus pinkeye thrown in and an optional hockey practice at 6pm on Saturday that the child insisted that he had to go to. The only one I managed to dress up was poor Diego...he sure does look happy about it, doesn't he? He's one in a Minion LOL!
Keeping this short and the to do list is a mile long and I'm hampered with these darned things on my face and drops 4 times a day!

Off to work on getting healthy and the never ending to do list!
